Mexican Redbud is good for bridging landscape gaps between tall trees and shrubs.  It is a smaller tree than the Texas redbud.  Blooms mid-February to mid-March.  Drought tolerant.

It is still OK to dig up your Irises to establish new beds in full sun.  Plant rhizomes so the top is level with the soil surface.

Prune the freeze-killed tops of esperanza, poinciana, lantana, salvia, duranta, firebush and other root-hardy, cold-sensitive ornamental plants.
